Description

Croft Corner is a house built in 1911 by C.H. Hignett, designed in the style of a Wealden Hall house, described by Pevsner as "cottage ornée with Art Nouveau trimmings." The house is two storeys high, with a large central dormer. The symmetrical facade has three bays. It features a hipped thatched roof with decorative ridge details and tall red brick chimneys with moulded caps. The first floor is roughcast with brick header patterns between the windows, constructed with gault brick. A tile string runs at first floor level. The outer bays each contain three small casement windows with leaded lights. The central bay has a characteristic Art Nouveau T-shaped window of seven lights. A four-light dormer window is topped with a thatched hood and apron. A central entrance is sheltered by a canopy.
