Description

The White Cottage is a building located on the north side of Croft Lane, constructed in 1906 by B Parker and R Unwin for local artist C J Fox. Originally, it served as a large, open-roofed studio featuring an inglenook fireplace. The north side of the building has a prominent mullioned window supported by a battered buttress, which provides lateral stability to the main beam. The structure is now divided into two storeys and displays irregular gabled facades. It features both thatched and tiled roofs, a roughcast stack, and roughcast walls. The windows are mullioned casements with leaded lights, including a six-light mullion and transom studio window. The entrance is located on the south side, accessed through a "stoep" with a fitted settle.
