Description

West Field is a house built in 1904-1905 by the architect Halsey Riccardo. It is one of a pair of identical houses, the other being Elm Tree House on Letchworth Lane. The building is two and a half storeys tall and features a double-fronted design with three windows and a central gabled entrance bay. The roof is tiled, and there is a brick stack with a moulded cap. The house is constructed of gault brickwork, specifically Arlesey White bricks, which are rarely used in Letchworth for aesthetic reasons. The gables are weather-boarded, and there are brick arches above the segmental arched openings. The windows are mullioned casement types, with transoms on the ground floor and glazing bars. The entrance has a half-glazed door, and there is a one-storey hipped service range at the rear.
