Description
This barn, dating from the 17th century, has been reroofed and extended in the 18th or 19th century. It features a timber frame on a brick base and is weatherboarded, topped with a steeply pitched slate roof. The structure consists of four bays with a single aisle and a three-bay midstrey addition at the rear. There are two double doors and loft openings facing the yard, and a continuous roof covers the rear aisle. The cart doors in the midstrey have a shallower pitch to the roof. Inside, you will find jowled posts, arched braces connecting to cambered tie beams and the arcade plate, collars clasping purlins, tension braces, and studding in the walling, with some repairs from the 20th century. Attached to the left and extending forward at a right angle is a three-bay former stable range, which dates from the 17th century and was reroofed in the 19th century. This range features stable doors and jowled posts with arched braces to cambered tie beams.
