Description
The Cottage is a lodge to Newsells Park, built in 1804. It features a rendered clay lump construction with timber dressings and a half hipped thatched roof, designed in the cottage orné style. The building is one storey with an attic and consists of two bays. The entrance is located at the right end facing the drive, featuring a panelled door with a four-centred arched head set in a rustic timber surround, along with a thatched rustic open porch. The windows are two-light casements with upper leaded panes, rustic timber mullions, and segmental heads, all with chamfered surrounds. The attic lights on the ends have rustic timber dripmoulds, with the date displayed above the one facing the drive. A central ridge stack has three octagonal shafts made of plum brick, two of which are original and one added later. At the rear, there is a catslide roof over a continuous lean-to outshut, which has recessed windows. The interior has not been inspected. Newsells Park House is not listed.
