Description

Schapwick Cottage is a pair of houses dating to approximately the 1840s. The houses are constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof and are designed in the Gothic style. They are two storeys high with two windows and a central entrance to each house. Each house has enclosed, flat-headed porches featuring 4-centred entrance arches and hood moulds with mask stops. The porches also have wavy bargeboards with decorative drops. The ground floor bays are slightly projecting and have square heads with chamfered angles. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in chamfered reveals, with square hood moulds featuring mask stops. The first floor windows have 4-centred heads. The eaves feature wavy bargeboards with decorative drops. There are central and slightly projecting end stacks. Later, single-bay additions have been built to the sides, set back and incorporating garages to the front. Further sashes in reveals and later additions are present at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
