Description
The Manor Lodge is a house that was formerly the lodge to Hartsbourne Manor. It likely has origins from the 17th century or earlier, with an 18th-century casing and late 19th-century alterations and additions. The structure is probably timber framed, featuring whitewashed brick walls with decorative sham timber framing and a tiled roof. Originally, the building had two bays, with an additional bay added to the left side. It is one storey high with an attic.
The central entrance consists of a panelled door located within a two-storey late 19th-century gabled porch. The ground floor is open timber, with four-centred heads on each side. The first floor has a rendered finish with a two-light casement window that includes leaded panes, also adorned with sham timber framing. The gable features wavy bargeboards, and there are canted bays on the ground floor with roofs covered in fishscale tiles, each with leaded light casements.
In the attic, there are two-light casements with four-centred heads for each light, topped with bargeboarded gablets. The eaves are dentilled brick, and there is a cross axial stack at the right end, which has a large base and three diagonally set shafts. The left bay is slightly set back and has a separate ridge, along with an external left end stack that features a cruciform shaft. The building has been extended to the rear. The interior has not been inspected, and a date plate reading 1517 is noted to be clearly secondary.
