Description
County End is an 18th-century building located on Magpie Hall Road in Bushey Heath. It is two storeys high and is likely covered in early 19th-century stucco. The façade features three sash windows and an impressive lead tented-roof verandah adorned with Chinese-style wooden trellis work. The building has French casements with margin glazing inside and a slate roof that includes gabled dormers. Shallow projecting wings were probably added around 1840 to 1850. The ground floor has one transmullioned casement, while the upper floor features paired sashes with a heavy bracketed cornice above. This property was formerly owned by Queen Adelaide as part of the Bentley Priory estate and was enlarged for her chaplain.
