Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 40 meters west of Numbers 1 and 2 Auriol Farm Cottages in Shenley. The barn features a timber frame that is covered with weatherboarding and has a shallow pitched tiled roof. It consists of four bays, with an entrance to the yard in the third bay from the road and windows on the west elevation. There is also a lean-to extension facing the road. Inside, the barn has collars clasping purlins with queen posts, and braces connecting the wall posts to the tie beams. The wall plates show edge half scarf joints, and some timbers have been renewed.
