Description

The Nicholas Hawksmoor Memorial, located about 20 meters east of St. Botolph's Church, is a simple raised tomb slab dating from the mid-18th century. It features a brick base topped with a stone slab. The inscription, finely cut by Andrews Jelfe, reads: 'P.M.S.L./Hic Jacet NICHOLAUS HAWKSMOOR Arm+, Architectus/Obijt vicesismo quinto die .... Anno Domini 1736/Aetatis 75'. This memorial is included for its historic interest.
