Description

The Hawkins Monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 5 meters north of the Marten monument, to the north of the Church of St. Nicholas. It was dated 1810 and is made of sandstone. The tomb has a square shape with attached reeded corner columns that stand on a plain plinth, supporting a wide, projecting top with pyramidal coping. The side panels are oval with branches depicted on the east and west sides, while the north and south sides have a square shape with curved tops. The north side is inscribed with the name NATHANIEL HAWKINS, who died in 1810.
