Description

Old Thatch is a detached house, originally three houses in a row, constructed in the early 17th century and altered in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with a rendered chimney and a thatched roof. The house is single-storey with an attic, arranged in a long, single range.

The front facade has a square frame with short straight bracing. It features scattered casement windows, including two canted oriels dating from the 19th or 20th century. A central plank door provides access, and the thatch is decorated with a scalloped ridge. The north end of the building has a hipped roof and two small-paned casement windows. The south end is gabled, with two small-paned casements on the ground floor and a 20th-century attic casement. At the rear, an off-centre lateral chimney stack was built in the 20th century, along with two thatched dormers featuring artificial stone slate aprons. The rear fenestration is similar to that of the front. The interior was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries.
