Description

This building is a barn located about 30 meters northeast of Ridge Farm House, dating from the 18th century. It features a timber frame construction with weatherboarding and a brick base, topped by a steeply pitched tiled roof, with machine tiles on the rear. The barn consists of six bays, with an entrance located to the left of the center in a tall gabled threshing bay that opens to the yard. Inside, there are queen struts supporting the principals, butt purlins, and straight braces connecting the jowled posts to the straight tie beams. Additionally, small braces connect the wall posts to the wall plate in the entrance bay. There are lean-to extensions at the front and left of the barn.

Attached to the barn are stables that extend forward towards the road from the right end. These stables were built in the 18th and 19th centuries and also feature a timber frame with weatherboarding, along with tiled and corrugated asbestos roofs. The three bays closest to the barn are from the 18th century, and inside, they have clasped purlins with curved braces connecting the posts to the tie beams. The six bays nearest the road are from the 19th century and share a similar construction style.
