Description

The pump at Tharbies, located in the middle of the yard, dates from the 19th century and is made of cast iron. It features a ring on the barrel at the spurred spout and a large corbelled expansion to the chamber. There is also a ring on the chamber and a moulded flange for a moulded cap, although the finial is missing. The pump has a long curved wrought iron handle with a counterweighted end. An inscription on the upper part of the chamber reads "F Watson Church Street, Bp. Stortford."
