Description

This is a pump located 7 metres south of the door at Priors Cottage in Little Hadham, dating from the 18th or 19th century. It is made of tall, slender cast iron and features a barrel with three rings. The pump has a moulded expansion leading to a fluted chamber, which includes a fluted and spurred spout on the east side. On the north side, there is a long, swept wrought iron handle with a counterweight terminal. The pump is topped with a pointed fluted cap. It is significant for its social and technological history and contributes to the setting of Priors Cottage.
