Description
This is a 19th-century pump located at Hadham Hall, positioned against the potting shed, 80 metres northeast of the hall. It features a small bracketed cast iron handpump mounted on a wooden post. The pump has a fluted, expanded chamber with a leaf design at the base of the spurred spout. It includes a round barrel with a raised ring and an unusual S-shaped cast iron handle that has a decorative iron terminal. The pump is equipped with a bracketed fulcrum and a lever that operates through a flat cap to the chamber. This pump is notable for its technological and artistic interest.
