Description
Apple Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It has two storeys and features two windows, with a timber-framed structure that is plastered on the exterior, facing west. The front has a weatherboarded apron and a gabled thatched roof. There is a central modern porch with a gabled tiled roof. The house has external gable chimneys and a 2-light 18th-century leaded casement window on the right side of the first floor, while the left side has a 2-light 19th-century casement window. The ground floor features 3-light windows. A County Fire Office plaque is located between the upper windows. At the rear, there is a lower contemporary outshot and a small extension added in 1973. Originally, the house was two cottages around 1900 and was combined into one around 1967, according to the owner. Inside, thin timber-framing is exposed, with two structural bays and an axial floor beam, along with squared joists and beams. The cottage is part of a group of varied historic buildings.
