Description

The South Barn at Latchford Farm, located 30 meters south of the house, is a 16th-century barn constructed with a timber frame and dark weatherboarding on a red brick sill. It features a steeply pitched roof that is now covered with corrugated iron. The barn consists of five bays and faces north, with double doors in the middle bay and a small door on the south side. The structure includes jowled posts with heavy curved braces supporting the tie beams, a clasped-purlin roof with windbracing, and inclined queen-strut and collar trusses. The walls are reinforced with tension braces, and the heavy wall studs and framing timbers are roughly squared. The eastern end bay was partitioned off in the 19th century to serve as a stable.
