Description

This is a 17th-century barn located 12 meters to the west of Bassus Green Farmhouse. The barn features a timber frame set on a red brick sill and is covered with dark weatherboarding and a half-hipped steep thatched roof. It has three bays and faces south, with a rear outshot in the middle bay opposite the double doors. The structure includes jowled posts, tension bracing, and slightly curved braces supporting the tie-beams. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins and inclined queen struts, and there is a face-halved bladed scarf joint in the wallplate.
