Description
The farmhouse at Walkern Hall Farm is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast with a weatherboarded apron and steep old red tile roofs. The building is large, two stories high, and has three windows along the south-facing side. There are gabled crosswings at each end and a small extension to the west. At the rear, there is a lean-to outshut. The farmhouse has a large central chimney and a cross passage at the west end of the hall. It also includes a rear stair and flush casement windows. Inside, the interior displays heavy straight braces to the tie-beams, a clasped-purlin roof with flat-laid rafters over the west wing, a former open fireplace on the ground floor, and cupboards with a smaller fireplace that has been inserted.
