3/4 Box Hall (formerly listed as 24.11.66 Box Hall Farmhouse)

House. Early Cl7, largely refaced and refenestrated in Cl9, gable end of W wing rebuilt c1940. Red brick with steep old red tile roofs. A large symmetrically planned E-shaped house possibly large enough for 2 households, on the unit system. 2 storeys, facing S. Projecting gabled wings to right and loft of 3 windows centre with small blocked windows at ends. Gabled porch with battened front door. 3-light casement windows under segmental arches. One window to each floor in wings. 2 large external lateral chimneys at rear, each with 3 diagonal shafts. Linked at base by later lean-to. Ovolo-mullioned windows survive at W end (4-light) and rear (2-light). Interior: Ground floor SW room. Wood panelled (panels full height and with bolection moulding). Arched corner cupboard, with shaped shelves. East of above, in lobby, arched corner cupboard with shaped shelves. Various early types of door with moulded vertical boards. Also Cl7 and C18 doors including 2 panelled, (one with fielded panels of early type). 2 straight staircases. Outhouse to W not of special interest.
