Description
Little Orchard and Haldons Cottage are a pair of houses, originally a single house dating back to the 17th century. A western bay was added in the early 19th century, and a southwest rear wing and an east crosswing were constructed around 1980. The house is timber-framed, with the western bay facing the road built of roughcast brickwork. The eastern half of the house (Little Orchard) is white weatherboarded, while the western half (Haldens Cottage) is roughcast. The roof is covered with red tiles at a steep angle.
The original house has a three-cell plan with a central chimney, facing north. A bay was added to the west, a two-story gabled crosswing to the east, and a single-and-a-half-story rear wing to the west end. The house was divided through the central chimney. The eastern portion has an open gabled porch with a two-light flush casement window and a shallow oriel window above the door. The western portion has a symmetrical three-window front with a lean-to enclosed porch. It features two-light casement windows, which are replacements.
