Description
Dragons Green, located at the corner of Old School Green, is a house that was once the Green Dragon public house. It dates from the 17th century or earlier and was extended in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, topped with a steep thatched roof. The exterior includes painted brickwork and thatched roofs.
The house is two storeys high with a three-cell plan, facing south. There is a higher two-storey crosswing from the 19th century on the east side and a one-storey front gabled wing at the southwest. The rear has a lateral chimney, and the eastern bay of the older part has a roof that is lower in height.
The front of the house is asymmetrical, with one window on each floor of the wings and two windows on each floor of the central section. The casement windows are set flush, while there is a flush box sash window with 10 small panes in a 10/10 configuration on the first floor in the middle. The west gable of the older section is dark weatherboarded above a ground floor made of brick and flint. The framework is exposed with close-studding on the sides.
