Description
This building, located to the north of the junction at Bassus Green in Walkern, is a pair of houses from the 18th century that were joined together in the early 20th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a dark weatherboarded apron and a tall hipped straw thatched roof. The structure is long and rectangular, with a single-storey layout and a central chimney. There is a shared red brick chimney stack in the middle of the house. Each half of the building has a plank door, with two-light flush casement windows on either side. The entrance leads into the main room, with an end bay that is divided into two inner rooms. The interior is ceiled, and the roof space is unused. This building is an interesting example of a surviving rural house type.
