GREAT AMWELL LONDON ROAD TL 3510 (east side) Hertford Heath 14/20 Cricket Pavilion at Haileybury and Imperial Service College 30 metres east of Big School

Cricket pavilion. 1884-5 by Reginald Blomfield (the plans were a gift to the School and resulted in his commission to design the Bradby Hall q.v. - Blunt (1966) 18), rear extension 1937. Single storey, timber framed on a moulded red brick plinth with steep red tiled roof, half-hipped with gablets and ogee finial to clock-cupola. 5-bay arcaded E front to Cricket Ground in Jacobean style with heavy balustrade, turned columns and 3- centred arches with 'keystones'. Shiplap boarding with bench and central half-glazed door set back. Decorative tile hanging to sides with deep plaster cove to eaves. Lower projections on each side with decorative half-timbering. Red brick and tile hipped rear extension. Slender circular brick chimney in angle. Gables dormer to rear. Part of a group with Bradby Hall. (Blunt (1966) 18, 28).
