Description

The cricket pavilion at Haileybury and Imperial Service College, built between 1884 and 1885 by Reginald Blomfield, is located 30 metres east of the Big School. It is a single-storey structure with a timber frame set on a moulded red brick plinth, topped with a steep red tiled roof that features half-hipped sections and gablets, along with an ogee finial on the clock-cupola. The eastern front, which faces the cricket ground, has five bays in a Jacobean style, showcasing a heavy balustrade, turned columns, and three-centred arches with keystones. The front is adorned with shiplap boarding, a bench, and a central half-glazed door that is set back. The sides of the pavilion feature decorative tile hanging and a deep plaster cove at the eaves. There are lower projections on each side that include decorative half-timbering. The rear extension, added in 1937, is made of red brick and tile and has a hipped roof. A slender circular brick chimney is located at the angle, and there is a gabled dormer at the rear. This pavilion is part of a group with Bradby Hall.
