  1. 1860 by Poulton and Woodman. Formerly a Congregation Church. Yellow stock brick with Bath stone dressings. Slate roof. Two storeys. Romanesque style with Italianate details. Double apse plan, south front with 2 projecting towers, pierced parapets on top, flanking single storey 3-arched loggia with similar parapet. Rusticated arches on loggia and tower ground floors, the latter with stone plate tracery. Continuous triplets of round-headed lancets on ground and first floors of main block. Interior has segmental roof with plain cast iron beams. Double galleries around 3 sides, lower one on spiralled cast iron columns, upper one on wrought iron brackets and with elaborate cast iron balcony. Large organ and pulpit in centre north side. Imposing building in open area east of North Street. (Pevsner 2nd Ed Rev (1977) 102).
