Description

Guild House, located at 16 Water Lane, is a building from the mid-18th century that is likely based on an earlier timber frame, probably from the 16th century. The exterior is stuccoed and features a steep slate roof. The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical front that has five windows facing the street. A prominent central doorcase is designed in the Doric style, featuring a pediment, three-quarter columns, a triglyph frieze, and a modillion cornice. The original door consists of eight panels. The first floor has old sash windows, and there is a modillioned cornice at the eaves. The rear elevation includes a later addition that matches the original style on the northeast side and a plastered timber-framed extension on the southeast side.
