Description
The Hertfordshire and Essex Observer Offices, known as Jarvis Bennett, is a 17th-century building located on North Street. It features a timber-framed structure with painted plaster and red tile roofs that have a steep pitch. The building stands two and a half storeys tall and has a double shop front from the late 19th century on the ground floor, along with three late 19th-century sash windows on the first floor. The gable ends display early 19th-century round-headed sashes. The building is adorned with plain bargeboards and retains well-preserved 17th-century pegged rafters in the roof.
