Description
The Star Inn is an early 19th-century building with a painted brick front, which conceals a late 16th-century or early 17th-century timber-framed house. It features a slate roof and stands two storeys high with five windows. The side elevation facing Water Lane is plastered and has 19th-century weatherboarding, topped with an old red tile roof. This side also has a jettied upper floor supported by an early 17th-century timber console located beneath the eaves. The windows are a mix of 19th-century side-hung sash windows and casements. At the back, there is a deep courtyard primarily weatherboarded. On the south-west side, there is a 17th-century timber-framed storehouse with a tie beam roof. Inside the public house, exposed timber beams and a plain 16th-century brick fireplace can be found.
