Description
Pearsons is a building that consists of two houses now functioning as one shop, located on the west side of North Street. The southern part, formerly No 15, dates from the mid-18th century and features painted brick with a steep old red tile roof. It is two and a half storeys tall and has three windows. The ground floor has an early 19th-century shop front with slim pilasters flanking the door and a modern window to the north. There is a triple-hung bowed sash window on the south side and a zigzag fan above the door. The first floor has sash windows and a band beneath the parapet, along with one gabled dormer. The rear of the shop reveals a 17th-century timber frame. The northern section of the building, dating from the mid-19th century, is finished in stucco with a slate hipped roof. This part is three storeys tall with five windows. The ground floor features a cast iron, arcaded shop front with three bays, each containing three arches with spiralled mullions. The first floor windows have architraves and cornices, and the eaves are plain.
