Description

The farmhouse and attached barn at Standon Green End Farm date from the mid-17th century, with documentation suggesting a construction date of 1676. The farmhouse incorporates an early 16th-century west crosswing. The barn, built in the 18th century, features the year '1751' carved on a post in the porch bay, and a bay next to the house was converted for domestic use in the late 18th century.

The farmhouse is timber-framed, standing on a plinth, and is roughcast with smooth margins around the openings. The ground floor has been renewed in roughcast brick with a tile offset. It has old red tile roofs with a diaper pattern on the west side. The barn is also timber-framed, covered with dark weatherboarding, and has old red tile roofs.

The T-shaped house faces south, with the barn extending north from the rear of the crosswing, which faces east and features a porch in the penultimate bay. The house is two storeys high, with the earlier west crosswing formerly jettied on the south side. It likely consists of two rooms with a stair at the rear and a clasped purlin roof. The main range from the 17th century is also two storeys high and presumably replaced an open hall.
