Description
The barn at Sutes Farm is a Grade II listed structure from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a brick plinth, topped with a steeply pitched roof now covered in corrugated iron. This tall barn has eight bays and faces south, with two gabled porches located in the third bay from each end. The barn is supported by heavy unjowled posts and has long curved braces connecting to the tie beams. The roof is constructed with butt-purlins, and the rafters are tennoned into a single purlin on each slope, with the purlins jointed in-line. The barn also has curved queen-strut trusses that span about 7 meters and do not have collars. There are double doors on the north side, opposite the porches.
