Description
This is a house known as Farm House, located opposite North Drive, and dates from the 17th century or earlier. It has a timber frame that is plastered, with the ground floor at the front made of 19th-century red brick, and the rear is weatherboarded. The building features steep old red tile roofs and is designed in an H-plan shape with two storeys. It has a higher central section flanked by two gabled crosswings and a continuous front jetty. There is a large external rear chimney with two diagonal square shafts, along with a side chimney on the northern wing. The windows are 2-light and 3-light flush casements. To the right of the entrance door, which leads into a passage through the southern end of the hall, there is a canted bay window under the jetty. The entrance features a 6-panel part glazed door in a plain surround. A date of '1677' is said to be carved in brick on the large fireplace.
