Description

Reed House is an early 18th-century house situated on the east side of Standon High Road. The main body of the house is timber-framed, with plaster and a lined finish intended to resemble ashlar, and sits on a stucco plinth. A 19th-century wing extends to the south, constructed of red brick and stuccoed with a painted plinth and red brick end detailing. The roofs are covered in old red tiles.

The house faces west with three windows, and has two parallel rear wings with hipped roofs. A projecting wing extends south, aligned with the main roof. The facade is symmetrical, with a plinth, boxed eaves, and flush box sash windows containing 10/10 panes, with a smaller 6/6 window above the entrance door. The front door is a six-panel design, with beaded detailing, glazed top panels, a moulded surround, and a flat hood supported by ogee brackets. A canted casement oriel window is located on the first floor of the south wing, with a recessed sash window below containing 3/3 panes.
