Description
The Old Waggon is a house that dates back to the late medieval period and features a northern crosswing. It has a timber frame that is plastered, with a weatherboarded apron and a jettied upper floor on the wing. The building is topped with steep old red tile roofs. The hall range is short and one and a half storeys high, featuring a flat-topped dormer and a door to the left of a lower window. The higher two-storey crosswing has one window on each floor and two external chimney stacks on its northern side. The windows are 20th-century flush types with glazing bars and a horizontal proportion, and there is a boarded door. Inside, there is an inserted floor in the hall from the early 17th century, which includes an axial chamfered beam with a bar and hollow stop, along with exposed square joists. A contemporary inserted chimney features wall paintings above the fireplace, depicting flowers and fruit in foliage, coloured and outlined in black on an ochre background.
