Description

This is a late 18th-century house, originally a coach house. It is timber-framed and has weatherboard cladding, with a low-pitched slate roof. The building has two storeys and a cellar, with a wide carriageway on the left side, providing access to a yard and taking up a third of the narrow frontage. There is one window on the upper floor and two on the ground floor. A half-glazed double door is situated over the carriage entrance, and a house door is set up two steps next to the carriageway. The house door has a half-glazed flush-panelled door, with its original flush-panelled shutter fixed in place, and is sheltered by a flat hood supported by ogee brackets. The windows are flush-sash windows with 6/6 panes. A chimney is located in the rear wing. Behind a rack of stored timber on the late 18th-century brickwork, there is a painted horse’s head (as recorded in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments typescript). The building is included on the listing for its group value.
