Description

Wynchlows comprises two adjoining houses dating from the 17th century. The frontages are timber-framed and originally weatherboarded, later faced in red brick. They have steep roofs covered with old red tiles. The houses are two storeys high with attics, and feature rear extensions. The northernmost house, number 42, is smaller and of a later build, with a brick front distinguished by a lower floor band and a pattern of black bricks below the first-floor window. It has a gabled dormer and a flush two-light casement window, along with a door with a bracketed hood. The larger house to the left has a floor band, a low plinth, gabled dormers, and flush casement windows. It originally had a pair of door surrounds, the left of which was converted into a window following a subdivision in the 18th or 19th century, adding a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. There is an external gable chimney to the south side of the larger house, and a gable chimney on the north side to which the chimney of number 42 is built against.
