Description

South House is a house with two shops, one of which is now used for domestic purposes. It dates from the early 19th century and features a timber-frame construction with roughcast and a low-pitched slate roof. The north end wall is made of painted brick. The building is set back from the road and faces east. It has two storeys and three windows on the upper floor, which are flush box sash windows with three panes each.

On the ground floor, the northern part on the right serves as a butcher's shop, featuring a simple window and a six-panel reused early 18th-century door to the left of the window, along with an external gable chimney. In the middle section, there is a large early 19th-century oriel bow window that was formerly a shop window, characterized by its bellied front, small panes, and an entablature with a faceted frieze. To the right, there is a contemporary six-panel flush beaded door set in a moulded doorcase. The southern part has a rectangular bay with triple French windows. Additionally, there is a fixed canopy with cuspea edging supported by posts over the shop.
