Description
This is a churchyard monument located at the Old Church of St James, dating from the early 19th century. It features a stone monument raised on a York stone cover slab that leads to a vault, surrounded by cast iron railing on all four sides. The monument has a ridged stone ledger that is elevated on a chamfered base. Each end of the ledger has a triangular sunk panel with a carved winged heart. The cast iron railing is designed in a Gothic style, showcasing traceried work with quatrefoils above cusped ogee arches, and it has a cresting above a moulded rail. The railing stands about 1 metre high and includes square corner standards topped with spiked maceheads.
