Description
The churchyard gates and walls at St James' Church date from the late 18th century and early 19th century. They feature rubble stone walls and ashlar gatepiers with iron gates. The rubble stone retaining walls have triangular sectioned rubble copings that encircle the churchyard. On the west side, the walls rise to a pair of plain tapering stone gate piers topped with moulded cornices. Between these piers are a pair of plain semi-circular headed gates adorned with fleur-de-lys finials, and above them is a simple scrolled overthrow. This structure is included for its group value.
