Description

TRING RURAL TRING ROAD SP 9013 (West side) Wilstone 10/151 Paddock Cottage - GV II House. C17 or earlier, restored and extended in early C20. Timber frame exposed on upper floor at front with plastered infill panels, roughcast elsewhere but tilehung S gable. Old red tile roof. A 2-storeys, 3 windows long house facing E with tall external N gable chimney now roughcast, and large rear-wall chimney to S part. Single-storey tiled extension to S end. Single-storey half-hipped tiled rear wing at NW and frilly conservatory attached at W end of extension. Unusually lofty 1st floor - probably due to heightening of front wallhead. Tall 2-light metal casements with small panes. E front was probably jettied and then underbuilt. Small convex curved tension braces to corners and wide-spaced timbers. Jowled posts. Squint-butted scarf joint in bressumer.
