Description

The house at Chapelend Farm, located next to number 8, is an early 18th-century building which was heightened and remodelled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with chequered grey brick headers in older sections, and has a hipped slate roof with plastered eaves. The house is a two-storey, single-pile structure with end chimneys and a central entrance, facing south. It is extended by a lower, parallel wing at the rear.

The south front is symmetrical, featuring two windows on each floor. There is a central recessed area and a six-panel door topped with a rectangular fanlight, sheltered by a 19th-century gabled glazed porch. A plinth and a chequered brick floor band are visible on the front, but the ground-floor windows have been raised, cutting through the band, and matching brickwork has been added above the first-floor windows. Tall, recessed sash windows with plastered reveals contain 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2 panes. The building is included on the list for its group value.
