Description
The Wilstone War Memorial is a First World War memorial erected in 1921. It is made from Cornish granite and Derbyshire Gritstone.
The memorial is located on a green at a junction near the center of the village, next to Manor Farm and St Cross Church. It features a Cornish granite cross with a Celtic head and a tapering shaft, which rises from a trapezoidal two-stepped plinth and a square two-stepped base made of Derbyshire Gritstone. The cross is decorated with carved interlace and knotwork. On the west face of the shaft and plinth, there is an inscription that reads: "TO THE/ GLORY/ OF/ GOD/ AND IN/ MEMORY OF/ WILSTONE/ MEN WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES/ FOR KING AND/ COUNTRY/ 1914-1918./ (NAMES)."
