Description
The War Memorial at All Hallows Church is a First World War memorial erected around 1920. It is made from carved granite and is located in the churchyard, immediately southeast of the church porch. The memorial features a granite cross with a Celtic head and a tapering shaft that is approximately 2.2 meters high, rising from a trapezoidal granite plinth that is about 0.6 meters high. Both the cross and shaft are richly decorated with carved interlace and knotwork. The west face of the shaft bears the inscription: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF A DEAR SON AND ALL THOSE FROM THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE WAR 1914-1919." The east face is inscribed with the words: "O LORD SHEW THY MERCY UPON US AND GRANT US THY SALVATION."
