Description
The tower located to the southwest of Bruce Castle is a 16th-century round structure of uncertain purpose, featuring a battlemented parapet that has been renewed in modern times. It is constructed of red brick and includes a corbel table made of pointed brick arches beneath the parapet. Surrounding the tower is a four-centred arcading. Above the arcade panels, there is another corbel table with corbels made of single carved bricks. The panels rest on a plinth. On the north side, there is a basement entrance with a four-centred arch, while the south side features an arcaded basement. The tower has one quatrefoil window, which is likely a later addition, and a 19th-century window with Y-tracery. Access to a modern door at the northwest is provided by five stone steps.
