Description

The White House is a house that appears to date from the late 17th century, although it may be older. It has 19th-century alterations and a south extension. The building has a timber frame set on a stuccoed sill and is roughcast. It features a steep old red tile roof that extends down at the rear over an outshut. The north gable displays applied timbers.

This two-storey house with an attic is slightly set back from the street and faces west. The shallower south extension matches the front and eaves height of the main structure. The west front has a deep plaster cove at the eaves, with three windows on the first floor and another in the south extension. The windows are small-pane flush casement types, except for a flush-box sash window with eight over twelve panes at the left-hand end on the first floor. There are shallow canted bay windows on the ground floor.

The house consists of two cells and has a lobby entry next to a large internal chimney, with the stair located behind it. The large axial chimney rises to the rear of the ridge. The entrance features a six-panel fielded door, which has been renewed, along with a left-hand sidelight. There is an internal south gable chimney in the south extension and a two-light casement window in the attic of the north gable.
