Description

Pondside Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century, with a western part and chimney added in the 17th century, and a rear extension from the 1960s. It features a timber frame on a brick sill, which is plastered and painted black, with roughcast and white weatherboarding at the front. The steep roof is covered with old red tiles and is divided into two parts. The house has one and a half storeys and a two-cell layout with an internal chimney and a lobby-entry plan, facing north. There is an added western bay with higher eaves and floor level. The front has three windows and gabled dormers to the right of the door and the western addition. A bow-fronted glazed porch with a panelled door and a flat roof is located at the entrance, which is positioned opposite the internal chimney, about one-third from the eastern end. There is also a secondary external chimney on the eastern gable. The windows are two-light flush casements with small panes, and the rear addition is weatherboarded and one and a half storeys tall.
