Description
Hillside Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with modern extensions to the south and west that are in keeping with the original style. The building is single storey with attics, constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, facing east under a steep, half-hipped roof covered in old red tiles. There is a modern one and a half storey rear wing, and the north gable is weatherboarded up to the attic window. The layout features a central chimney plan with a lobby entry, one room to the north of the stack, and a hall to the south, which has a full dormer above for the chamber. The service end to the south has been reconstructed and extended to include a garage, and three matching modern dormers have been added along the front. The windows are two-light wooden casements with small panes, all of which have been renewed. Inside, there is a large exposed fireplace in the hall.
