LITTLE HADHAM THE FORD (west side) Hadham Ford Saddlers Cottage

GV II

House. C17 or early C18. Small, thatched, with gable to road. One and a half storeys timber framed with weatherboarding on S and W sides and pargetting on N side with overall arched motif. Gabled thatched roof with 2 gabled dormers on wall plate on S. Heavy glazing bars to small paned windows in front gable and on W at rear of Ground floor. Plastered front to road has dripboards at eaves level and over attic window, blackened timbers in gable, shallow C18 bow oriel to right of half-glazed C19 front door under hipped, tiled canopy. Steps up to door. Exposed C18 brickwork of oven or large fireplace at W end on S side. Central chimney in middle of house and flue from rear part both rebuilt above roof in C19.
