Description

Saddlers Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. It is a small, thatched building with its gable facing the road. The cottage has one and a half storeys and is timber framed, featuring weatherboarding on the south and west sides, while the north side has pargetting with an overall arched motif. The gabled thatched roof includes two gabled dormers positioned on the wall plate on the south side.

The front gable and the west side at the rear of the ground floor have small paned windows with heavy glazing bars. The plastered front facing the road has dripboards at the eaves level and above the attic window, with blackened timbers visible in the gable. To the right of the half-glazed 19th-century front door, which is sheltered by a hipped, tiled canopy, there is a shallow 18th-century bow oriel. Steps lead up to the door.

On the south side at the west end, there is exposed 18th-century brickwork from an oven or large fireplace. The house has a central chimney located in the middle, and the flue from the rear part has been rebuilt above the roof in the 19th century.
