Description
Old Whitehouse Barn, located 30 metres south west of the house and adjacent to the road, is a barn constructed in two phases, dating from the mid 17th century and late 18th century. It features a timber frame with a gambrel roof, which is clad in slate and pantiles, and has half hips on both the left and right sides. The late 18th century section includes a half hipped midstrey on the west side, while the 17th century section has half hipped jettied midstreys on both the east and west sides. There is a pantiled cartlodge situated between the midstreys. The 18th century build has a ridge board side purlin roof with double collars, whereas the 17th century build features a side purlin roof with canted braces to the collars and halved and bladed scarfs.
